Meet Frederica - Motivating, Coaching and Encouraging You
This interview was originally published in our February 2022 newsletter.
If you weren't in your current line of work as a life coach, what do you think you'd be doing?
There are so many things that I would love to be doing and I believe that we all go through seasons in life and have several gifts that adhere to those seasons. If I wasn’t life coaching, I would be a motivational speaker. Travelling the world with a message of hope to all the nations. Encouraging people to press on and that their past does not define their future and that their best years are ahead of them. In this day, with so much uncertainty and lack of unity this message is necessary.
Where did your interest in coaching come from?
Working several years as a counsellor I realized one of the parts that I loved and was passionate about was being able to encourage people and to watch them progress from one stage to the next. The art of guiding them along when they had a particular goal but felt stuck. Being able to help them get unstuck and watch them thrive is absolutely exhilarating. People have so much greatness within them and sometimes they just need a little help to see that.
What's one thing you'd like to learn in the near future?
I would like to learn more about NLP, Neuro-linguistic programming. It is action oriented which is in complete alignment with life coaching. The approach is really fascinating to me. It is an approach that studies the way our thoughts affect our behaviour. It looks at how our brains receive information and how it turns into how we act. The techniques they use help us to look at our thoughts, feelings and emotions as things that we can control, rather than things that passively happen to us. While applying that to a particular goal to attain. Wayne Dyer says “change your thoughts change your life”. I also believe that to be true. Learning more techniques around this concept, is what I would like to learn more of in the near future

Do you have a regular wellness practice that promotes balance in your life?
Praying. Praying and more praying. Did I mention praying? I say that with a smile. Praying to me is really having conversations with God. I have several wellness practices that I engage in but praying and meditating on the word of God is what really balances me. I find that without starting my day in prayer and time with God my day can become quite chaotic. The first thing I do before my feet hit the floor is say good morning to God and thank him for my life and another day to be on earth. Life is such a gift and I recognize that I didn’t give myself this gift the higher power did. After I greet him, I praise him and then I meditate on his word.
