About Our Centre

Our Philosophy

Change is a continuous process. You cannot assess it with the static yardstick of a limited time frame. When a seed is sown into the ground, you cannot immediately see the plant. You have to be patient. With time, it grows into a large tree. And then the flowers bloom, and only then can the fruits be plucked.

Our History

The Growth & Wellness Therapy Centre was launched in 2019 with the idea of bringing on a group of therapists to create a broader supportive community for both clients and therapists focused on two major components: continued professional growth, and maintenance of individual and family wellness.

In May 2019 collaborative conversations with professionals in the area who were interested in providing services out of The Centre were undertaken to ensure the new practice model would not only meet the needs of clients, but also meet the needs of the therapists working with us.

In July 2019 we began renovations in our new space, and in September 2019 we opened our doors.

We thank all our clients and colleagues for helping us to become an award winning clinic three years running with the Toronto Star Reader’s Choice Awards! In 2021 and 2022 in Marriage, Family & Individual Counselling, and in 2023 in Best Medical/Health Services!

Our Location

We are located in Suite 203 at 501 Eglinton Avenue East in midtown, Toronto. We are just west of the Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue intersection, up the street from Tim Hortons.

We have dedicated parking available in front of the building for clients.

Our office is accessible by TTC by visiting Eglinton Station and catching any Eastbound bus (34, 54, 51) to the Hoyle Avenue stop, or by visiting Bayview Station and taking the Southbound 11 bus to the Eglinton Avenue East stop.

Our Land Acknowledgement

The Growth and Wellness Therapy Centre acknowledges the traditional territories and Treaty Lands on which its office resides. Indigenous peoples have been the stewards of this land since time immemorial, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. This territory is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Haudenosaunee, the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the lands and resources around the Great Lakes. Today, this land is covered by Treaty 13 and home to many diverse Indigenous people and their relations.

The Truth and Reconciliation Committee of Canada reminds us that reconciliation is an active process. We are committed to working to reduce the inequities and injustices that Indigenous communities are still facing today and are working towards advancing our services towards reconciliation. We do this in part by providing in house training and support around indigenous experiences and issues, and by providing sessions for clients via the NIHB program through the Government of Canada.

Our People

We’re a group of professionals who are passionate about supporting growth, reflection and insight in our work with clients. We are social workers, psychotherapists, counsellors, yoga practitioners, body work therapists, administrative professionals and coaches in all stages of our careers. Our team is made up of people from different experiences, ages, cultures, genders, sexualities, religions and abilities. All of our team members advocate for and work to build practices that reflect anti-oppressive actions, cultural humility, respect and curiosity.

Our Community Involvement

Our office values being an active part of our community, and we do that by participating in memberships, volunteer opportunities and partnerships. We support student practicums from a variety of university and college programs, host English Language Learners through the TDSB Enhanced Language Training Program, and support the transition of education and licenses of internationally trained clinicians through practicums with the BREM Program. As a woman-owned business we also maintain membership in the Women’s and Non-Binary Person’s Chamber of Commerce, with a portion of our annual membership fee going towards Dress for Success Canada. We also support, contribute to and advocate for the creation of ethical and sustainable employment through our membership in the Better Way Alliance.
