About Katie

Pronouns: She/Her

I’m a Registered Social Worker who specializes in supporting young people through the unique challenges and transitions of their lives. I combine my clinical knowledge, research experience, and lived experience as a younger person with a lot of big emotions to inform my current social work and psychotherapy practice. I am proudly the sensitive, emotional, and energetic teenager who grew up to become a therapist, and I encourage my clients to embrace these same qualities as distinctive strengths.

I draw on elements of multiple therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy to support the unique needs of my clients. I aim to offer a non-judgmental, creative, and affirming space for my clients by utilizing trauma-informed and feminist-informed lenses that consider my clients within their current contexts.

  • Before becoming a social worker, I completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto where I specialized in Children and Their Families. Prior to my MSW, I also completed a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies at Brock University where I studied bullying, attachment, and parenting.

When I’m not seeing clients at the Growth and Wellness Therapy Centre, I work as an outpatient therapist supporting young people who have been recently discharged from hospital after a mental health crisis.
