About This Group:
The Realization Process is a series of embodied meditation practices that facilitate body-mind integration by inhabiting the internal space of the body. Developed by Judith Blackstone, PhD, these practices guide you in attuning to an undivided, subtle ground of consciousness that pervades your whole body and environment—a spacious stillness underlying the movement of life.
The Realization Process helps us inhabit our bodies more fully, allowing us to reclaim our whole selves and heal the ways we have adapted to our environment, restoring resilience, grounding, happiness, authenticity, and self-acceptance.
This program will run for 4 weeks, with a brief intake done with the office prior to registration. Participants must be 18+ and it is recommended that they have access to a mental health professional either at or outside of the Centre. During the program duration, participants who do not have a therapist will have access to an Intern therapist at the Centre, at no cost. Once the program has ended there may be additional costs incurred should you wish to continue with the therapist.
This class is run online. In-person sessions will be offered in the future. The class will be taught through a trauma-informed lens, maintaining a gentle pace and prioritizing safety by providing choice and agency to adjust the practices according to individual needs. The meditations in this series vary in length from 10 to 30 minutes and include sitting, standing, and moving practices.
Each week, we will explore a different dimension of embodiment through practices from the Realization Process.
Week 1: Wholeness
Cultivate mind-body integration and a felt-sense of wholeness.
Week 2: Steadiness
Uncover stillness, calm and inner peace beneath the movement of life.
Week 3: Depth
Uncover spatial depth and breadth of experience within and outside of your body.
Week 4: Fluidity
Cultivate non-grasping, allowing life to unfold naturally and freely.
Materials Needed:
- A comfortable chair or seat that allows you to sit upright with your feet on the ground.
- A blanket or sweater for comfort and warmth.
- A notebook, pencil or drawing material for journaling and body-mapping.
- Any object that helps you stay grounded, such as a stone or a small piece of fabric.
- Some space around you for gentle movement practices.
Participation Requirements:
Participants must be 18+ and residing in Ontario. Although meditation is generally a supportive practice, these exercises may bring up personal challenges. For this reason, it is recommended that participants have access to a mental health professional for support. For those without a therapist, an intern therapist at the Centre will be available during the program at no cost to meet this requirement.
