About Freda
My name is Freda Bizimana, and I am a Rwandan Canadian who was born and raised in Canada. I’ve completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto with a passion for working with children, youth, their families, and young adults. I have four years of experience working with Black and racialized youth in conflict with the law and supporting them with navigating the criminal justice system, school system, and conflict with peers and family. I’ve worked with youth both one-on-one and in group settings discussing topics such as identity, anger and aggression, strengths and coping skills, and healthy/ unhealthy relationships.
I enjoy motivating and encouraging others to express themselves, and I love to incorporate art, such as music, into the space to help clients articulate themselves. I am a big proponent of using non-traditional methods of therapy to help support and motivate clients to share their stories.

The modalities I have experience working with are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment work, and Hip-Hop Therapy. I work through an Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Black, Anti-Racist, and Trauma-Informed lens and my approach is both client-centred and strength-based. I believe my role is to support you in your journey and help you build the tools to work through any obstacle life throws at you by providing a space to express and grow. By using the strengths and skills you already have, together we can build healthy coping skills that work for you so you can continue to practice self-care and self-love.
