About Avigal

Pronouns: She/Her

Welcome! I am a registered Social Worker with a background in Child and Youth Care, working specifically within the youth shelter and transitional housing systems. This work has shown me the valuable healing and growth that happen in our relationships to one another and in community. I am passionate about supporting youth and young adults in navigating mental health, developing coping skills, and building greater self-esteem and self-acceptance.

As a queer therapist, I am informed by lived experience and committed to working alongside members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to support journeys of self-discovery and mental, emotional wellbeing.

  • My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that we are experts in our own experiences and that effective therapeutic relationships must honour this truth. I believe that we all come to therapy with different strengths, expectations, and goals, which must be respected and explored to best guide our work together. I take a trauma-informed, harm reduction, and anti-oppressive approach to working with clients from all walks of life.

I'm also a graduate of Canada's National Ballet School, completing 7+ years of ballet training at the pre-professional level. This background informs the therapy I provide to dancers, allowing me to connect and understand your unique needs through lived experience. I have a deep understanding of the passion and discipline needed in dance as well as the pressures and stressors dancers experience. Having the combined knowledge of mental health and dance helps me provide support that is in alignment with your wants and needs.
