About Alejandra
Pronouns: She/Her
I graduated from the University of Toronto at Mississauga with an Honours Bachelor of Science (Specialist in Exceptionality in Human Learning; Major in Psychology). I completed my Masters of Social Work in 2012 (Health and Mental Health). I have also competed in depth training in Narrative Therapy and DBT.
I like collaborating with my clients in finding an approach that work for them which combines evidence based treatment, intuition and traditional wisdom. I am also adept at incorporating spirituality when this dimension is important to the client.
I am fluent in Spanish and offer full counselling services in this language.
Alejandra’s clinical supervision services are available to both OCSWSSW and CRPO registered clinicians.

I have worked in community health centres, primary health care, hospitals and family services and counselling. I work with individuals, couples and families experiencing psychosocial stressors, including life transitions (e.g. new jobs, marriage, immigration, and new parenthood), mental health issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, stress, emotional dysregulation) and existential conflict (loneliness, existential fears, end of life issues). For couples, I specialize in marriage preparation, early stages of the relationship and new parent conflict resolution. I have also run marriage preparation classes.
I have worked with newcomers, people of colour, older adults, people with disabilities and their caregivers, women fleeing/facing domestic abuse and families experiencing alienation from one another. I am comfortable working with diverse populations.
My individual therapy is focused on interventions from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused/Brief Therapy, Existential Psychotherapy, Focusing and Mindfulness, Self-compassion and Body positivity. For couples, Gottman Method and Emotional Focused Therapy. I ground a lot of my work in systemic analysis, anti-oppression theory and radical acceptance.
