Hello!
My name is Sophie, and I am currently enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University. I previously completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Guelph. I also have eight years of experience working with children and youth in various settings. I have a passion for growth, self-development, and helping others learn new ways to live more authentically.
I lead with a person-centred and strengths-based approach, where we work together to find meaning and solutions that work best for you. I draw from a variety of modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, existential therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. I am also committed to practicing from a trauma-informed, culturally aware, and anti-oppressive lens that honours each individual’s unique perspectives and backgrounds.
I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and respect, where it feels safe to share experiences and vulnerabilities. My goal is to create a space where thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are explored without the fear of judgment, and to work together toward achieving goals and aspirations. While the process can be challenging, it is well worth the outcomes.
