December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, also informally called White Ribbon Day. I wanted to create this infographic to provide simple tips for supporting someone in a potentially abusive relationship. You will find additional resources below.

 Assaulted Women’s Helpline: 416-863-0511 or 1-866-863-7868

A 24-hour telephone crisis line to all women who have experienced abuse. Provides counselling, emotional support, safety planning, and referrals to shelter, counselling, or other supports.

Femaide: 1-877-336-2433

A 24-hour telephone crisis and support number for French-speaking women who are victims of violence. It offers emotional support, safety planning, and referrals for women who need shelter, counselling, or other support.  

Seniors Safety Line: 1-866-299-1011

A phone line that provides safety planning and supportive counselling for older adults who are being abused or at-risk of abuse. Family members and service providers can also call for information about community services.

Toronto Rape Crisis Centre: 416-597-8808

A Feminist grassroots community organization and crisis centre that provides support services for all survivors of sexual violence, sexual harassment, human trafficking, and other forms of gender-based violence.

Women’s College Hospital Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Centre: 416-323-6040 – 76 Grenville Street, Toronto

A comprehensive service that assists women, men, and trans people, over the age of 14, who are survivors of sexual assault and domestic/intimate partner violence.

LinkToronto/SafePet Program

A program for survivors of intimate partner violence who are unable to find a trusted family member, friend, or co-worker to care for their pet(s). Go to www.linktoronto.org for information about accessing the program and making a referral.
